For typical
facebook users, "likes" are simply the new informal form of sending
respect or attention. It means nothing physically. For a large company or even
a novelty Facebook page, it can mean everything.
#1. Update and Contents Syndication
If user A
likes or shares a picture from a page that he/she likes, then user B
will often see this on their newsfeed. This is why you see so many vines or
"like-farming" pictures on your newsfeed, whether you liked the page
that posted them or not. Likes will show users content to lure them into a
page. A page will be able to get following and even revenue with a lot of users
liking it. The value of a like greatly depends on who is asking for them.
#2. It Portrays How Popular your Business Is.
Facebook “likes” are very important in a business sense. It's because when you go to a new site, what
do you first think of? How many people are already visiting this site? Is this
site popular, is this product popular? No one ever wants to the first one to
try it out, or the only one using the site. So numbers on a business level are
kind of a big deal.
Younger boys and girls may feel that they aren't popular or attractive if their pictures don't get a lot of likes which can reduce their self esteem.
#3. It Defines Your Personal and Business Value
Likes are
what define some people. Even as adults, I see many of my friends caught up in
the value of the "Facebook Like". They think if they don't get a certain
amount of likes they will be judged, or maybe they aren't popular enough.
It's all a
joke to me as I've never really cared what people think about me, but that's
not how most of the world works. People will always see it as a popularity
contest, and that's practically what Facebook is.
People can share around a photo in the hopes of
raising awareness for something, and with people's likes substituting them
signing a petition.
#4. It Drives Attention by Generating a Buzz to Updates
Yes! Facebook
"likes" are very important for business and fan pages. It creates a
buzz when other fans visit the page and see that a company has a following it
will make other wanna like the page so they don't miss out on what the buzz is
all about. If you see a fan page with only two or three likes they may like the
page to help out the company but more than likely, they will by past the page.
We all want to like and be a part of what's the most popular!
#5. Helps you Looks Established
I consider
myself a beginning online marketer. Since people I interfere with on the
internet don't know me, I do consider it is important for people to view my
page and see "likes," which were given to me. This helps the novice
establish himself/herself with the online community. Overall, I think the like
rating suggests credibility to some degree. People are going to be more
inclined to follow or purchase from you, if others express that they like your
site or your services. I try to really support others, when they ask me to
consider "liking" their page.
What if there were “Dislike” Button?
I only
imagine the craze that a dislike button will cause if Facebook ever decides to
get one. Regarding the popular request for a "dislike" button, we all
want it sometimes but it's a good thing it doesn't exist! Can you imagine how
many friendships would be dissolved over a "dislike?" Far better that
a reader express his or her dislike in a comment rather than having an easy,
cop-out dislike button. At least that way, courage and bold communication are
required.
Do you Have Facbook Like Button on Your Website?
Ohh yes I
think the like button is a big deals, when I comes to making a post or posting
a picture on Facebook. People tends to steer away from posting just normal
typical things, and focus more on the highlights of their day or life or even
the drama in their life. I actually have friends that actually get excited
about how many likes they get and disappointed about the amount of likes they
don't get.
