Goddady started hosting services recently and their hosting
services ‘speed’ have been robustly good. Their Linux hosting is very good with
WordPress and it’s suitable for blogging.
The only problem with Goddady, I will say, is poor customer
services. Low or slow response to live
chat is one of their characteristics. Some of their support articles are
misleading due to poor update. I was frustrated today before I was able to make
the headway.
My Frustrations
I needed a country specific – (.com.ng) domain name which I
registered from a local domain name
registrar in Nigeria. Now, I wanted to host this .com.ng domain with Goddady
without even knowing where to start.
This problem took me roughly 5 hours before I could figure it out. I lobbed around so many forums and blog post to decipher this, all to be no avail. I even found it very difficult to know the exact keyword to google for better search result. The worst aspect of it was that the support doc for this was not helping matters.
My Breakthrough

Now you are done adding your domain to your hosting account
(Ignore any error message like “This domain has already been assigned to
another account”). Just wait for like 2 hours or more for the nameservers for
your added domain name to navigate.
After That…
How to Set he Domain Nameserver for your Hosted Domain
Follow these instructions and set the nameservers for the
domain name you added.
- On your hosting account menu, go to Options and Settings
- Click on DNS Manager
- You’ll be redirected to the domain properties of the primary hosted domain for your account. If this is not the domain your were interested in…
- Click Change Zone
- Select your domain of interest, click OK to view the properties of your domain
- Scroll down to NS (Nameserver) property
Something like this;
Ns1.domaincontrol.com
Ns2.domaincontrol.com
Note: yours must be different from this.
The Last Step in the Process…
The last step in the process is as follows:
Contact your domain name REGISTRAR and request a change in
your domain nameservers so that your domain will be mapped to your new host.
I was able to do this without consulting my domain registrar
in Nigeria. I registered through Whogoihost.com and their domain registration
panel is very easy to use. I logged in through client’s login button, clicked
on my domains. I then clicked ‘manage
domain’ and clicked ‘manage nameservers’. Changes these default nameservers with the one
from your Goddady hosting and you’ve finished the mapping process.
Hope this helped. Have you figured out this or found other
ways to do it? Kindly share in the comments section.
